Went out to cut wood with the ms250 i picked up last year. It ran like crap wouldnt hold an idle, always loosing its toon ( tuned it to four stroke wot then next think it would be rich bogging then just screaming) so before i did too much damage i figured i better pack it in.

Ive never done crank seals. So this will be new to me. Kinda excited lol. So on that note, any advice would be great.

Thanks.

Never hurts to pop in a new set of carb gaskets and give it a good cleaning.
You'll have to dismantle the whole saw as those seals are not the push in type from the factory. There is no head gasket either. They used basically a high temp red rtv they call Dirko. You Can order push in's or factory seals. I just order the factory seals as they are the cheapest and I had to take the dern thing apart anyhow!
Be sure to put a fair bead of the goo around the head, and don't be afraid to put some along the crankcase where the seals sit. Helps to keep them sealed. I like to let the saw sit for a few hours before tightening the pan bolts down that way I don't just squeeze all the dirko out. YES I am aware of the little moat that surrounds the pan for the dirko to settle in, but none the less that's what I do. lol

I was wondering if i would have to split the clam shell or if they just push in. How about moto seal. Will that work ok. Iv used it for base gasket deletes. It works great for that.

moto seal is fine. Best to pressure test saw before you dismantle it completely. Remove clutch and flywheel and pressure test and spray with soapy water. It is common on that series saw for leaks to develope right at outer edge of seal and where the pan comes together on the block.

Best to verify the problem before you fix a problem that doesn't exist.

Got new seals ordered. Almost $25 with tax. For both sides. Litlle more then i figured they would be but oh well. Also got a new fuel line. The old one a had to put a zip tie on to seal it on the carb.

Pressure test as well as vac after you get it together. Sounds like it will be back in service in no time
