Yup back in the day I have, here's a pic of my 1986 064 part donor saw to my 066RL.You ever get any if your saws ported Willard?
Yup my '91 066 has the metal cover from factory too. The early year 064s airfilter setups were simple and effective. The newer air compensating setups that came on the newer Stihls were just silly with extra weight and bulk.Cool. You got one with the old metal air filter cover. [emoji106]
Yep the saw that could. I never picked up a 288 that let me down or lacked anything a bigger 90 plus :'( saw did. I've cut big wood with 288s. And as rugged as they come.If we can vote for one not on the list HOORAY 288!!!!!!!!!!!
395 has the same basic crank as a 288 except the threads are different for the flywheel and the key is cast in. 394 crank is identical to 288.I'm late in this thread, but I saw the 1st answer from Joe... 395's bottom end is bulletproof? For me it's a children's toy against a 288 bottom end.
I remember 20 years ago when I started to look at which chainsaw I'm gonna use... the Husqvarna lineup (281, 288, 3120 ) looked pretty bad against the Stihl's (064, 066). I took the 064. It was lighter and stronger than the 288 on the paper.
20 years later, I still own a 064 and a 288. And honestly, for me, the 288 is one of the greatest saw ever made, over the 064.
I know they share the same crank, but the 395' crankcase is flimsy, the 288 one is a rock.395 has the same basic crank as a 288 except the threads are different for the flywheel and the key is cast in. 394 crank is identical to 288.
The dolmar 9010 crankcase impresses me more than any modern 90cc on the market honestly just looking at one. Built like a tank.I know they share the same crank, but the 395' crankcase is flimsy, the 288 one is a rock.

Can I say 066/660 since I'm the new TEAM STIHL captain ?
