I have sometimes found that turning the oiler all the way up and making a big cut, chain comes out dry. At the end of the day it seems like theres oil all inside the clutch cover with wood dust but the chain seems dry.

is it dry and dusty wood that makes it appear this way? Or is the oil not getting carried onto the drive links somehow?

double check to make sure the oiler hole in the bar is clear and the rail is cleared of pitch. Also, what oil are you using?

The chain isn’t supposed to be covered in oil. Rev the saw next to some cardboard or similar and if you see a fine mist of oil you’re good
Yea shes oiling just comes out dry from the cut. I guess its not what you see but whats happening on the inside of the rivet. Thanks.

Large trees and long cuts soak up the oil
Plenty on the rails but the outside will be dusty you just have to check for excessive wear and clean the oil passages often.
At least here that's how it is.

Yeah the chain can look dry on the outside, like mentioned lift up the chain and the drivers should have a coating of oil. If not clean out the bar.
