This dude supposedly hit 1200hp on a stock 4.8 rotating assembly at 26psi. There are plenty of turbo sierras and silverados running around on 20+ psi with 700+whp on stock 4.8/5.3 internals that hold up for a long time. They are tough motors.

One of my favorite old vids.

Maybe I need to blend my dodge, jeep, and deuce parts.

After watching so many KOH races, that was, meh. .:p

That vid was hardcore when it was new :-D

Went to KOH a couple times, hard to be in the right place at the right time, and some of the crazy is over the top for me.
I went to 3 of the early ones when you could stand right down in the rocks to watch and even and talk with the drivers. A few years later the insurance company they had to use shut all that down. I noticed his last year there were hardly any of the crowds on the main rock trails as in the past. Friend of mine was there all week with his family and the stayed in the RV and watched on the TV, lol
The Back Door challenge on Fri night got stopped. That always seemed pointless to me anyway :p All the rigs were home built by average Joes in their garages in the first couple years. Then Cambell came in with his custom IFS machine and blew everyone out. He was amazing to watch up close.
Entire industries have been developed just for that one race now…amazing.
Started by 3 guys sitting around the fire one night to see who’s rig was best. Prize was a 6pk.

I’ve got a 2013 Tacoma with a stock rear e-locker (and atrac), it’s my daily driver. After learning to wheel with open diffs, it feels like cheating.
I’m envious of all of the built rigs and folks who live close to good trail access.
My truck was built for the major NorCal trails…Rubicon, Dusy, Red Mt, etc
Unfortunately there are no trails like them anywhere close to me here in ID.
