All saws except the 394 were run on 8 pin on the Dyno today. The software seemed to compensate for it as it should because Jason's saw was in the same range as in CT, where everything was run on 7 pin.

The four of us had a great time. We all got to run what ever
we had there. Those ported Stihls were pretty impressive. And
the Dyno is a work of art.

Thanks to everyone.

One of these days I'll make it to a GTG and run some of your saws. I really like the older stuff you can't find anymore

All cleaned up. Thanks a bunch to Dan, Bill, and Lee for coming out had a blast. Dan thanks for donating logs as usual!

Gotta go clean myself up and boot dyno up to get all of the data off. Will post live links for you guys.

Dyno still lots of vibration but usable when you look at trendlines. Should have filmed what the caliper does when not constrained and you spin with drill... tha dunk, tha dunk, tha dunk... 400 hz software filter with 40 or 60 points works well. Ive got raw data for shaun to look at to derive optimal setting.

Bill has an Rpi to read load cell and try different things. Before too long we will try hydraulic of some sort... might plane one rotor first and a few other ideas.

The first video in this post is the 166 with the 084 piston. Stock 166 cylinder
was bored out 4mm. Went from 56mm to 60mm and now 136cc's.

Best sounding saw today. When it pops you hear it echo off all of the trees in the town forest that surrounds my house.

I just don't understand guys...I thought saws were for cutting trees, firewood, or lumber! Looks to me like all y'all ever do is cut wood wafers and spin metal rims! ;)

Really guys, looks like a lot of fun. Would enjoy going to one! I enjoy following the threads y'all do on them, and you do a good job with them! Almost feel like I've been there!

Hey Guys-

Here's the link to all of the dyno runs from today.
Wherever it says "40 point filter" or the like it is referring to the digital filtering -- with the higher sampling rate that is double what it was at Dan's we wanted to try and find the best digital filter. It seems 40 or 60 points is the best. On several runs of Dan's 460 you can see different air filter types mentioned -- sorry for any confusion!

Without further adieu:

When you dump the clutch and take the saw from 13000 to 400 RPMs in only 0.3 seconds you can get the 30 HP spike.
This graph has RPM as a line along w/ HP and torque so you can see the clutch dumpings....

To see RPMs as a 3rd line choose the "Time based" option instead of "Dyno" option when looking at your graph.

I'll post this on the dyno thread -- from run #436 today we have raw torque points collected 400 times per second w/ no digital filter:

unfiltered_400hz.png

And then the same data after being run through a 60 point digital filter (decimation):

400hz_filtered.png

Cleans it up really nice. It will be interesting to see what a further smoothed rotor can do and then a hydraulic fluid transferred setup.
