I just finished catching up on this thread. Very nice work @Miller Mod Saws and contributing editor @Mastermind .

I feel sorry for those poor bastards on that other site, I bet they're still pissing and moaning on this same thread , and no dickweeds trying to tell a builder his saw is not performing because he downloaded the exhaust note into some half ass computer program.

Yes I agree and think the accuracy on that program is +-50%

The learning process is the best part of something different. Wish they could slot piston and make a read valve inside a skirt for the maximum amount of volume and still compact for short intake runners

Hell even a reed plate insert for intake boots

Yep. I'm sorta in that technical field and I completely agree with you. Spectrum analysis of sound frequency recorded by a cell phone and compressed to go over the internet is garbage. I could not believe in the thread on AS that tortured numbers like that were given credibility above a tach reading directly from the chainsaw.

Carl I enjoy write ups like this and appreciate the thought and effort that goes into a build such as this. I honestly never had much of an interest in Echo saws but the mechanics and thought process is cool to follow. I'm learning a lot. However I need to learn a lot more.

Bumping this great thread as a reference point for Red's 490 build.

If these saws as is can compete with a Masterminded 346, they're a solid foundation.

I may try my hand at one.

I see you speaking of them not liking more ignition advance. Has anyone tried .005 off the key at a time with no other changes?
