That's my buddy's saw, he's running the n.o.s. 101 saw-type crank Terry gave him.

I'll see if he'll send an exhaust pic, I seem to recall him saying he retained the decomp and I think it's a runner. I gave him a missing grommet and wrap bracket a few days ago and it was pretty much done then.

Very cool - I'd be keen to find out if Terry recommended the billet rod or a regular Mac rod. Some of the kart guys swear by the stock Mac rods
but several of the saw racers (including Mike Nolen) swear by the billet rods. I've not turned up any of my kartsaws high enough to find out if
I need the billet rod yet but I have a couple in stock.

Bone-stock 101 parts, no fancy add-ons for an all-day saw. The race saw got a stroker crank and billet rod, though. @Bigmac I was told the underside of the muffler is just an open hole.

Legend says Slasher will be getting on of those and a big ol' Pioneer SDC to slap on my CP for testing purposes. (Whenever I get around to putting it back together, that is.)

Made some copies of the inner clutch/chip shield, was kinda fun to make.BC6F37F9-2F74-43E1-9B0E-1B74D9D0A322.jpeg8317221D-D0F2-4A37-BEEC-2952101D43D4.jpeg

I needed a few! Going to take down the cp and hopefully get a welded pop up.

It's been a long time!
I have a little problem or I'm just a bit paranoid?
After running a few tank of fuel, the whole carb box is misted with split back, even a hair of red Dom oil can be seen.
Is that a normal thing or the reed is tired?

Very nice Mr. N - I'm keen to see how your welded pop-up turns out. I'm looking into getting a couple done myself.

Could be, did you check the reed profile when you were re-assembling?

It has a hair of gap between the base. Eyeballed like 0.015".
Not a 125 reed pic

Did you check the working edges of the reeds for splits, cracks, or worn-down areas? Sometimes if the tips of the reeds are worn down,
that will cause some spitback. A small amount of spitback in the airbox is normal. If you see fuel puddling though, that's an issue.

Completely agree with Jj, a little bit of spit back is normal. If it starts and idles well, and you don’t see major fogging while running with the airfilter and cover off then it’s normal. I don’t like to see any gaps with the reeds on a fresh build, sometimes you can flip the reed to get a better seal, and sometimes the intake itself needs to be machined flat. Have had several warped intakes. With good reeds and a flat intake there will be minimal spit back. I find the mc49 reeds to be the best replacement reeds for the stock block. Besides nos reeds, but they are a little harder to find.

Got this kart Mac close to up and running. I’m a little torn on the history of this tank…all of this yellow could really use a fresh yellow powdercoat, but the tanks had some cool 12-19-84 marks, kinda cool these were in service well after production

@Bigmac I like the way it is some bling with the new or restored kart covers and much history with obvious signs of use. With the look of use it not as likely to be a shelf queen waiting to get it's FIRST scratch a second time.

Is mc49 reed 86293 compatible with the 125? I see this on Ebay. Might get one while I still can.
