It is possible to rebuild those primers but you need to be committed to the task. There are details on Arborist Site in the McCulloch Carburetor thread.

My grandson Jon is excited about these old McCullochs. I also dragged out a Homelite 450, and a 925 for him to get running. Next up....gear drive sand cast Poulans. LOL

Back in the day before the 101 was ever even thought of they had to use "banjo bolt " cylinder heads to hold the cylinder heads on .They had those things jacked up to almost diesel compression and ran alkie /nitro and castor oil for fuel .Had to use a long shaft Ford starter with a vee belt to roll them over .They ran fast but not long .If I recall they were good for around 1 or 2 hours of run time racing before they were rebuilt or blew apart like a dollar watch .That was a long time ago when an MC 10 ,87 cc was less than $100 which was a lot of money 60 plus years ago when I was 11 or 12 years old .Now of days you'd likely pay over $100 for a forged connecting rod if you ever even could find one ..

I've made mention of two natonal champions in the days of two cycle go kart racing .One is Kenny Burden of Waynesfield Ohiio a piolet and farmer who is in the Taladaga hall of fame .RIP Kenny I knew him well he ran MC 10's .
Later is Louis Boughan of whom I went to appreniceship training with .He was number two much later towards the end of the era . Matter of fact he will give me the port maps etc of those 101's he used if I can ever find one for a reasonable price worth rebuilding .BTW Louis was a crew chief on a Huey gun ship in Viet Nam the same time I was a part of Uncle Sams partcially insane misfit raiders of the deep seas .

I should have mentioned Louis came up with the spring loaded slide pipe that adjusted itself depending on the race course .He used different springs and barrel lengths on weather it was short track, long track or road courses full of turns .Worked good on a racing kart but likely not so good on a race saw .
