I know this isn't a SP125 or a 101b, but I noticed something different on a CP125(?) and a pair of 125's I'm rebuilding. The 125's have a webbed brace on the front of the saw while the CP has a solid-type brace. Are the mounts any different? Why did Mac change styles? Am I over-thinking a rather trivial part?

That would be my theory - that someone machined a replacement. I've never seen that style either.
Machined is a little kind, rasped is closer to the truth. The solid mount is...... plastic. Yep, a big ol' brick of plastic rasped into the shape of the mount. It's got a few splits in it but since my buddy likes preserving logger fixes on his tribute saws I'll probably mount it up on his saw.

For the big saw enthusiasts, I found a few of these this week.

69241 is for the CP125. I have a few 69242 and 69243 as well.

This was evidently and updated collector with integral line to connect to the fitting on the carburetor in the top tank saws fit with the Walbro/MAC carburetors. The earlier version was a stamped steel or plastic box with a separate line to connect to the carburetor and put any spitback back into the carburetor.

69241 is the standard bore for the CP125 but I don't think they will work in the SP unless you change the connecting rod, maybe JJ or Nate will confirm that is correct.

69242 and 69243 are +0.0.010 and +0.020 respectively.

Right on the money - CP pistons need the same 1/2" wrist pin connecting rod as the 101. The SP rod is markedly different and not interchangeable.

Taking a brake on another project. Got this one today. It had been gone through but didn't run right
possible carb issue or leak somewhere although i was told it passed pressure vac test. So looked it over
a bit and decided to remove the muffler. Piston looked good then i see something. Now the saw is in pieces.
