for you guys who do lots of saws, about how many saws do you get before rebuilding?
I have 4 MC182 handpieces. I'm still using the first one I ever bought. It's been rebuilt twice. But I'd be willing to bet it has ported thousands of jugs. What breaks them is hanging a burr and dead stopping it. That breaks gears. But if you don't do that, they last under heavy use for a long time.

So I should be thankful when my cable broke when it happened to me?

Buggers really got a guy by the short hairs there don't they?
There really isn't anything else that will hold up to production work.

Not unless you hang it up. I caught a brand new one in my glove. Busted it. Only had a few hours on it.

Holy hell. That was easy. I took the one apart that was getting hot. Front bearing was nearly locked up. So then I took the one apart with the busted gear. And used the two to get one back in service.

The busted one. Shaft is bent too. I think it was since new to be honest. It always vibrated.

I just checked eBay, as I do once in a while, and there are a few heads for sale in the $257 region shipped. Which is the cheapest I've seen for them in a while.

I'm getting the feeling like we're going to be seeing a srcarr52 version of this tool in the near future. :)
