Carb cleaner can be harsh on some rubbers too. I know it weakens and seeps through vinyl and nitrile, and may even warp some rubber valves in some carbs.

yea, I wouldn't use brake cleaner. ether or carb cleaner should be ok
Carb cleaner is much harsher than brake cleaner. Ether could probably work.

Just want to let everyone that the OEM carb came today and I put it on the 200t. It took a lot of pulse to get it started but once it did, it ran like new.
The throttle response was really good and it cut like it always did.
I took the muffler back off and looked in there and didn't see any crap on the piston skirt so I buttoned it back up and let her rip.
I went out and cut some small stuff and it worked like a dream.
thanks for the help.

You can definitely check for leaks by spraying brake cleaner around the intake boot while it’s running. Probably a carb problem though, those saws are notorious for that.

Maybe ether instead? I'd be afraid of getting brake cleaner on rubber.

Wd40, it will lower the idle and provide lubricity.

Its been running great until I got it pinched in a cut about 10' off the ground while taking down a maple that had been hit by lightening.
I had a rope around the tree to fell it back against the lean and tied to the tractor. when the saw got pinched, I thought to hell with the saw I have
to get this damn thing to fall before it falls the wrong direction. as soon as I put some pull on the tree from the tractor, the saw fell on the ground and
landed on the clutch cover side. now when you start the saw, the chain at idle runs WAY too fast. I suspect I screwed up the clutch / drum somehow.
I have not had time to take it apart yet to find out what's wrong. its too dangerous to use as is.

Could be any number of different things gone wrong when this sort of thing happens.

Couldn't have tied a rope to the saw and to a lower branch to prevent its fall?

I said to the girlfriend " I should tie a rope to it but I'm worried that the damn big ass limb is going to fall before I can so screw it "
In hindsight, I should have but its a saw that can be replaced instead of a life that can't

I dont cut from ladders, I like my body and appendages the way they are. Cutting is dangerous enough without adding anything else to the mix.

I agree but had no other choice. Im too old to climb (63) and too poor to be able to pay someone else or rent a cherry picker.

I was worried about me up that 12' ladder not her because she was 50' away. I was choosing between me and the saw

That's when we humans have to make a compromise. jump off, break the saws fall
