Loudest chainsaw

Well, for stock saws I've heard the early homie XL101 with the small style muffler is ear piercing, just picked one up, I'll be finding out for myself soon enough!

Daddy bought a new Lombard Comango back in 1977 and passed down the Mac 250
to me, I had a loud saw for each ear,
those saws had a American made crack to them like nothing else.

I have one of these sitting on my shelf. I restored it completely. Yes, it still leaks a little bar oil, but believe me, pound for pound I believe it is the loudest chainsaw that has ever been built. It's deafening. Lord knows how they made this rather small saw that loud. You have to hear it to believe it. Make sure your ear plugs are attached.

In case people don't know it the Lombard Comango is just one of many saws that used the design as the Homelite Xl series .

I know that what Homelite called a muffler on these is nothing more than just a cover with some slotted holes, oddly though, they're still louder than saws of equal or larger displacement that used the stack style muffler.....

Some of the very early saws only had a spark arrestor affair.Some it was just a stub pipe .I've got an old Clinton with a deflecter ,straight pipe .It doesn't run fast enough to be really loud .

Couple old gear drive Homelites and a Lombard with a float carb,same way,slow as a snail .They would be lucky to hit much over 4000 RPM if they could do that much .Then again they beat the hell out of a two man cross cut saw.
