Also, the solid rope rotor didn't fit so I'm back to the stupid ass easy2start system on the 193. Bought a few extra springs to keep handy.
Your 193 must be a rear handle version, I’ve never seen the 193/194t wirh an easy start set up. I’m sure I have a rewind and the associated parts to convert to regular rewind in a parts box.

It is. I can't find a rotor that is the right dimensions. You think one for 193-t might work?

I’m sure you can go regular rewind on the rear handle 193/194 but will require the 193-194t flywheel and rewind assembly with regular dog set up. I will look in my parts box but probably have both parts to make regular style. How do you pull on your rewind on the 193? The easy starts se men to last abs work just fine if you pull on them slow and steady like they’re designed to be. Quick hard snaps like a regular saw rewind will mess them up in a hurry.

I pulled it harder than I should have until I broke the first spring, it took years. Been trying to go easy since then but have been through 2 or 3 more since. Inspected everything, nothing is broken or wallered out. But drop starting is a hard habit to break, muscle memory and all.

Went with the m-tronic because of the temp range I work in. Speaking of that, the manual says to "winter mode" below 50°. That seems high to me.
All it does is feed prewarmed air from around the engine. I guess they went with 50 for a reason but it should be good switching it anywhere.

Used to be around f freezing, made to prevent carb icing but honestly most people I know never change them and I don’t hear of issues in weather most people cut in. Lots of they guys I know don’t need to cut at -30 so they don’t and the few I know that cut in real cold haven’t told me of any issues.

cold air makes power. just saying
I do believe this was one of the 019t/191t downfalls, reed induction with a long small air intake made of black plastic between the rear air box and reeds on case. Plenty of time to make a hot and restrictive intake charge, also had 2 90 degree bends at the end.

That's what I'm thinking. Plus the manual says running in winter mode above 50 can cause catastrophic engine failure, so if you forget to switch it back and run it on a warm day, you're hosed.
I have ran down to -10f without the shutter and never had icing problems, not many winters anymore that it does not warm up to at least 0f during the day.

My reasoning was if I iced up the carb it was an easy fix unthaw it, if I forgot to remove the shutter above 50 and cooked the saw it was cooked and not an easy fix.
