even though i have fixed some of them. i usually dump them so i dont have a big mess

I store my saws with topped off fluids & ground chains so that they are ready for the zombie apocalypse.

I got some diapers for mine. Temperatures swing 30+ degrees daily and tank pressures push some out. I only dump tanks when I know they will sit for a *long period.

With no air bubble in the tanks there is no air to expand nor retract due to temperature changes!

And if so, just running the saw would create leaks. Oil/Tank temps climb higher and faster with use then outside temps.

Are you suggesting servicing the saw *after I'm done working?! Heresy!

But when running...the oil has somewhere to go that is desired and it is compelled to do so with a pump.

Not true. At idle no oil flows, as the clutch is not engaged. Yet temps still climb faster and higher then any outside temps.

A month later while splitting wood and having to use the saw a couple of times a day -- NO leaks. A miracle.

I've found mine will leak like crazy in the summer but quit right about now. Maybe the temperature drop thickens the oil? I also started filling the tank all the way full when done cutting and that really seemed to help.

I just drain mine when not using them in the next few days. I have old non flip cap that I put 1/4npt barbs into to make things ez to drain.

Make pouring out a lot neater. Just taking the cap off and pouring out, at least for me, made a big mess on the bottles rim and sides, the work bench and about everywhere else.
