The first picture of a mandrel I ever saw was made of walnut .Sounds crazy perhaps but it must work .Good old grumpy D. Cahoon had it .He said it ran true .
Copesy used steel round stock as have others .I can't say I'd be a fan of it but some of those guys have cut down a lot of cylinders using that method .
Unfortunately I can't find the picture of the nylon over steel mandrel I have .It must be on the hard drive of my crashed computer because its not on the 4TB Blackwater backup remote I have nor is it on this computer .
