I am leaning towards purchasing a Husqvarna lawn tractor and have the option of Kohler 7000 or B&S EXi engines. Anyone have good/bad experiences with either engine?

i would personally get the briggs if i could. honestly have no experience with either of those, but in my experience, briggs engines perform better over the long term.

Kohler 7000 has my vote, my 2017 Cub Cadet RZT has 250hrs on it with no issues.
but I may be bias, I effin hate B&S engines.

I've had older Briggs, a Husqvarna rider with 25hp Kohler and most recent a zero turn with 24hp Kawasaki. I haven't had any issues with any of them so far.

On another forum people have complained about the frames on the Husky lawn mower cracking. As far as I know, Husqvarna has exited the gas powered market.

just from a google search

I have a 2001 mower with a B&S 20HP engine. It's problem free, for now. I don't love the price of the maintenance components, or the little plastic cap that is the oil drain plug.... problems in the making.

I also have a 2019 with a Kohler engine, It's problem free as well but it has the Command engine, I'd avoid the Courage version if I were you (valve issues).

I know these aren't the specific engine models you asked about, but the companies don't seem in a hurry to fix their common issues.

If I was in the market for a new mower I'd buy someone else's old $300 beater and fix it up. You can do that 10x and still save money vs the price of some of these new mowers.

Good luck, let us know how it goes.

Our Husqvarna dealer refuses to sell Husqvarna mowers. Take it FWIW.
I have a Kawasaki on my Graveley.

It's all opinions .Briggs doesn't make a bad engine if you change the oil .Kawasaki and Kohler probabley make better engines but of course cost more .I will say one thing about pancake Briggs which is no longer made .It's slash lubication on the left side of the engine and if it's tilted too much like side hilling it fails and when it does it breaks both connectiing rods .Blow the grass up the hill not down .I've got two or three in my shop that came apart like dollar watches .

Al brings up a very good point . You do not hear about the "oil slingers" until they blow.

The mention of Husqvarna power equipment and some John Deere lower grades at one time were made by the Ohio Mower Company which BTW was in Indiana .Go figure .
