The deal with all of these handles is that some saws like the 2171/372 and 670/272 have different tank castings and the handles will not bolt to the wrong tank. Later saws like the 390/2188, 346/2153, 357/2159, and a few of the short lived new models 2253/550 and 562/2260 use the same mold and only the color is different. But the different handle angles don't match the brake handles as Steve pointed out.

One of the things going on with the pricing is that the Jonsered price file has additional margin in it on many parts because they are sold through distributors vs direct. There is a wrap for the 2188, and if @pbillyi69 is sitting down it is..........$170. There are no "W" kits for the Jonnys as there are for the Huskys. So, one option here would be to buy the 385/395 W kit for $30, which includes the large spikes, and also change the brake handle. Sometimes the brake handle interferes with the top cover and it requires a little surgery so it doesn't hit when you pull it back. Not sure, cause I never did this one myself, but it is worth looking into.

Correct me if I'm wrong Bob, but don't the Husky saw handles have an angle (I think 7°) whereas the Johnny handles are straight?

so after getting the w handle and a 390 brake handle and a decent amount of carving on the inside for it to go on far enough to get the screw in, i decided to put the jred brake handle on with the husky w bar and it works just fine no issue at all

It seems like a guy could bend on that handlebar just a little bit, and get even more room for yer meat mitts.

probably could but if you are reaching for the brake handle your hand isnt in there anyway and the distance from the corner of the brake handle to the handlebar when not pulled back is pleanty far enough for my medium size hands

So what (if any) modifications are needed to mount the 390 full wrap handle on the 2188?

i mounted a 390 handlebar it just bolts right on. i also got a 390 brake handle to put on it because someone said it wouldnt clear the handlebar. it wouldnt quite line up with the screw holes even after grinding it down on the inside. so i then just put the jred brake handle on it and it works fine.
