So the 625,630 and 670 all the same family of saws with different top end? Just looking at Parts and lots of listings for Parts saying they fit all. Of course it was ebay.

Kind of.

The 625 and 670 have a Separate impulse line that runs the carb. And use an intake boot. The 630 has the impulse going through the intake block like a 2 series husky. And I found out recently a 630 air filter cover will not fit on a 670. There was some interference at the spark plug.

I will later I honestly haven’t seen it, guy dropped it in my truck at work. I’ll see it soon when I pull it out to put in the garage. He said the top plastic cover on back handle is busted and needs maybe few other things to go with the piston and rings. But I don’t have any johnsred saws. Just figured price was right to add one to the collection. Only other one I had was a 2036 and that isn’t even a johnsred just a Poulan in red and black plastic.

I've seen worse. So is that tape holding the handle together or holding the black handle inserts together?

Busted rear handle, haven’t looked through exhaust yet but if no scoring I don’t think top end is bad. More likely ignition and if that’s it I’ll get to see if parts are hard to get or not I guess.

Maybe just set the carb. Maybe a touch lean.

I have a tank and possibly a coil I would like to test first. Might want to pull the recoil and see if it is a one piece or 2 piece coil.

Yeah probably look little closer at it tomorrow. One or two piece coil and cylinder ect. I’m going to guess 2 piece for coil but just a guess. Only says 625 on it not series 2 or anything. Suppose I need a new flywheel if it has a 2 piece and want to go to one.

625 has 2 pc. coil. The module is going bad= no spark hot. It's the one close to the oil tank the other one rarely goes bad (the one w/spark plug wire). One pc. coil will not mount in 2 pc. crankcase.

So find a used two piece ignition and take a chance if it’s good? Anyway to use a aftermarket ignition like a nova 2? Or find Parts saw with one piece ignition and combine them to make one good one.

It could. Double check the part number on partstree.

Yep it will work. It also fits a 266xp as well.

Good looks like I’ll be order one, and finding a tank assembly plus the throttle rod between carb and trigger.

Also works on Jred 630. 630 Super 2 has single coil.

Don’t have money for it, on Craigslist in mn just figured I’d pass it on. Maybe he’ll ship it.
