True but if I'm not making videos I'll probably be cutting stuff that big with the 394.Probably like a 7pin better.
Looks good
Thanks Mike! He really did!Looks strong and sounds great. That's a real nice 460 you got yourself Dan. I like it. @jmssaws did a great job on that sucker.
Good point Mike! I think I'll do some back to back cutting, with 7&8 pins just for kicks. I may prefer the 7 myself for everyday cutting...Dan, had 8 pin on 2 of em, but put 7 pin back on both. The 8 pin does great in "controlled" conditions, but I prefer the additional torque of the 7 pin for working with it, and I really don't think it gives up any speed in cutting. It will always depend on the type and size of the wood, but most tests recommend going to 7 pin for saws under 90 cc (there are exceptions for racing, etc). If you were running a 20" bar, the 8 pin may be more suitable.
Wish I could be there tomorrow, but have a few trees to take down and wood to split!
Its a fine line of tuning the low after the long cut, then touching up the highKevin pointed this out to me Tuesday while he was here. If the saw is lean, after a long cut it seems to do a little surge when you pull out of the cut.
Much better !!!!!!Here it is in a better piece of wood. That other piece just wanted to bind up.
25" bar buried in oak.

Yeah I had high and low on the limiters and it was still lean. I think it's right on now.Its a fine line of tuning the low after the long cut, then touching up the high
Much better !!!!!!
Looks that way... LolThat's a strong saw. If it drinks fuel like mine you'll need to take twice as much in the woods than what you'd take for a saw like a 562xp or even a sock 372xp.
I'll check it today.Have you checked compression?
I'm curious what it is at your elevation.
Hopefully it's under 225
