Hello, ive seen Stihl Ms180 for a 60$ on local ad, is it worth it?
It only needs new crankshaft seals-not seized, everything else is in very good condition.
Also together with it i get ms180- also not seized but dissasembled in parts.
What do you guys think? Hit or pass?
Note that i would need a smaller chainsaw.

Would you say why if you dont mind?
I mean overhere you cannot really get free stuff, even your cousing wont give for free .. eh
And Ive seen that seized ones are sold for ~40$
I mean i cannot really loose anything with this, resell it and in worst scenario im in zero.

Exactly. In nearly every case I would have been off buying a cleaner, running saw instead of trying to resurrect a “parts” saw. All of the parts prices add up quickly. There are always undiscovered problems that pop up.

Well maybe yep, i have mixed feeling right now.
I know that buying unknown stuff is gambling, but unfortunately i enjoy in taking them apart and repairing them :/
Well since i dont really need more chainsaws, (i have 3 now, 2 of them need to be assembled) but from some reason i found collecting saws ... a thing , but buying working ones are quite expensive for me...; it wouldnt be bad to buy not working one, fix it and sell it or keep it for low money or in this case or fix n sell that another one for same price i bought and technically i got free chainsaw, that way i could collect them.
Thanks for encouragement guys :')

Go for it!! You like taking them apart and building them up, good for you. I'd take a good saw that needs a crankshaft over a beatup saw that needed god knows what

Its quite difficult to get a not-working chainsaw overhere, firstly its a small country, and secondly there are few scums who buy literally every single not-working chainsaw and put those cheap ebay parts on them and sell it as original... and since people are not really familiar with ebay ovehere ...
Also there is bunch of twats which also buy ever single not-working chainsaw, and they dissasemble them and sell in parts..expensive.. which is really bothering me.
Competition is high.

You’re better off. “Needs crank seals”, who knows what kind of can of worms you would be opening
Putting crank seals in this homeowner saw requires nearly the whole saw be taken apart and engine removal, not hard work but takes a bit of time...

Yep and that exactly what i like, every saw i got no matter running or not, i dissasemble it completerly, clean and put together.

Another question. Has anyone resurected seized cylinder? Is it even possible?
Found ms360 for 80$ complete, might get it for 60, guy says that rope cant be pulled, might be stuck rope or something, but most likely seized.
Damn, i wish he was closer... To far to go and check it, and to fishy to buy it blind.
