I'd love to give one a try Keith, wish we lived closer.

To date, the X-27 is the best Hand Held I have used.

What do they cost?
I think I remember about 165$ Mike. That x27 works really well but the GB has alil more heft and hits alil more solid plus I appreciate the handmade forged craftsmanship and beauty of it also. Should last me a lifetime

I hope the 572 runs great, but I think the MS500i, which is 80 cc, fuel injected and a full pound lighter may give it some trouble, but neither saw is out yet, so we will see.

The 462 will (on a wight basis) be able to compete with a lot of 60 cc saws.

I just wish all 3 would come to market in the US soon.

Well, I like long handles, and that is a very long handle! Maybe I'll run into one at a GTG.

Thanks for the info.
Seems 26 to 28 is the norm now in axes. I have an Oschenkopf 26" felling axe but its too short for my taste except for cleaning a fellin notch out1495665913632.jpg

I wonder if one could order that GB axe in a 36" handle?

I like this post.......the bit about the GB & X27.
I used Keiths maul exstensively friday. It is hand s down tje best I have ever picked up. No sticking, no hard swings, just slap busts wood. Innocent bystandards are in danger if they dont stand a good ways back. The GB is worth every penny.

They are a bit pricey. $165 vs $50 for the X27.
Plus I am a handle breaker. My father used to get very upset at me when I was younger for breaking all the handles. Lol

I'm going to be swinging by Omaha Knife this week since I'll be in town to check them out. Looks like they have a good inventory of GB right now

Thats where I purchased all 3 GBs I have. I think the owners name is Robert and a stand up fellow to deal with

I think a replacement handle is about 40$ but it has the band to protect from overstrike
