Right up my alley! Rimfire for plinking and small game, .41 mag for larger game, 9mm for edc. Here's another trio that I could live with.
10 shot 4" S&W 617 in .22lr.
6 1/2" Ruger Flat top in .41mag.
Glock 19 in 9mm.

I think the HP is one of the most elegant pistols ever. I've had a couple but sold both because of hammer bite.I gave the Browning Hi-Power and Ruger Service Six some exercise today, both of them shot great. The Service Six is a stainless .38 Special from 1988, last year for the Six series. The Hi-Power was made in 2016 and I bought it brand new. The trigger is a bit gritty, which should smooth out with use. Will post pics when I get around to cleaning them.
I gave the Service Six some exercise yesterday and was reminded why the Six series are my favorite wheelguns of all time. Ruger absolutely nailed it with this gun in terms of dimensions and ergonomics, perfect size and weight for shooting healthy .38 Specials and mild .357's. My S&W 10-5 is an excellent revolver but the skinny barrel will jump when you fire +P's. The heavy barrel K-frames have the opposite problem, way too thick and front heavy for my taste. My Service Six is one revolver that is not getting sold!
While I respect the rugged ruger, I prefer the finish of the S&W. The only thing I don’t like about the ruger is all the sharp edges they leave on their revolvers. Other than that, it is a functional asskicker.I agree, the six series Ruger revolvers are just about perfect for heavy .38 specials and mild to mid range .357's. The old K-frame S&W revolvers are the same.
Below is a 4" Security Six on the left and an early production 4" S&W M66, on the right. Feel and balance are identical.

Glad to see you jump in.Ok, I’m late to the game on this thread, but if I were to choose 3 handguns it would be...

4” S&W 686
4” S&W model 57 (41 Mag) why a 41 and not a 44? Because I’ve been fighting a flinch, I’ll freely admit it. For some reason I started tightening my grip when squeezing the trigger and my 41 got me through with focused training and slightly milder recoil. The 41 mag is a pleasure to shoot and it will kill things just as dead as a 44.
Seems to me there aren’t many things those three handguns couldn’t handle. All of which are in my safe at the moment. Glad I stumbled upon this thread, haven’t talked Guns in a while. Howdy fellers
