I tried to measure bore what I came up with was 2.014
Would a p62 starter fit a p52 ?

Like Tim said, most of the 50/60 series parts interchange. You have a P-52

McCulloch version of a P-100 ,dead ash tree, me. Old saw needs a little work not up to snuff for 99 cc's .It pulled that 32" bar but not too well .I'll get on it when I find the time

Very likely just dirty points. Those coils last forever. But yes, I don't see why you couldn't put a nova chip in it.

I've cleaned the points.... Somethings up with this thing, just haven't put my finger on it yet!

Points and condenser are all I ever had to replace in them, the points can be cleaned up until there is no more contact metal left and the saw still runs but once the old condenser goes South the spark is gone at the plug. Always try a new plug first but if that doesn`t do it then the condenser got replaced.
