So I finished my 660 build the other week, and set off tuning the carb. My idle screw didn't seem to have any effect on the actual idle.. pulled the saw apart and saw that the idle screw wasn't making contact with the throttle linkage, at least so it seemed.

Is this normal? Anyone see this before or know of a fix?

Cut off about half the threaded part with a Dremel cut off disc.

That moves the taper part closer to the bell crank.

It should be cracking the throttle open for the saw to idle properly.

That's a new one. Yeah confirm the throttle plate is closing all the way and it's not on the high idle setting, make sure the linkage is not hanging it open or something is stopping it from closing all the way. Everyone I've built I've had to turn the idle screw and low speed screw in a little ways to get it to idle. High speed usually needs adjusted as well.

I have the exact same problem with the 660 clone i recently built. Just bought a used oem carb. I am planning to get oem choke lever and trigger parts as well. Swapping out the carb and these parts should solve you're issues.
