Steven most of us don't sling concrete blocks and move buildings for a living. Some of us are even sales people that spend most of our days on the phone or a computer. When you have soft salesmen hands and arms to match @Mastermind 's legs every ounce matters...

That being said, I would get heat over a few ounces weight anytime...

That is a prefect eggsplanation.

I took the 550 out today for the first time. I is amazing how the first log I put it in it was like using a poulan 2175 and by the end of the third tank of fuel it wouldn't stop! Even with the bar buried in oak! Only one problem, it started the bog I hear of. If I let it idle longer than two seconds and give it wide open throttle it bogs down and then it goes rapidly to full rpm. I remember there was a screw on the back of the carb under a plug that can fix this? I tried searching but the search function won't find anything. I even searched bacon and pie for a control! Could someone please explain the needle adjustment or should I put more run time on the saw first? It has a little more than a quart of husqvarna canned fuel through it. Got two cans left!

thanks,
Im not 100% if you have the AT-12 carb, carb came on s/n 2016 1000481, you may have the AT-7 carb.
Im not sure of all the difference issues that carb should fix, but improved acceleration and idle stability was two of them.

yup, its the old type AT carb.
I dont know how many tanks you have to run through the 550 for what we call for ein in time, or if the bug will dissapear at all.
You have full waranty, if its one of the famous AT bug its just to go to the dealer, you probleby end up with the AT-12 carb.
They have to cut the fuel line a tad also since that part also got changed with the AT-12.

Thanks Tor R. You have been extremely helpful in this whole process of me purchasing this 550 and the issues I have with it.

your welcome anytime Steve.
I hope it is an easy thing like a carb swap from your dealer and that you get a Husly who work as they should do

Btw, what it very cold when you had the bug issue?

15-20 fahrenheit. I had the plug out of the firewall to heat the carb but did not have the shroud installed on the recoil housing.

i have to calculate over to celsius.
One of my JRed dealer told me that there has been carb issue in extreme cold around where I live, would think around -26 deg celsius.
Either they installed the AT 12 carb or they swapped out to another gasket kit.
