After many years I finally pulled the trigger and purchased a 550xp. I originally was going to get the heated handles but it felt really heavy compared to non heated and I only can think of one time that I really could have used that option. I'm super excited and can't wait till Saturday to go cut something!

I was surprised by all the extras the saw came with. Two air filters, one felt and one silk. Two screnches, the normal 13, 19, flat blade and an 8, 10 ,4mm allen. Cold weather kit, sprocket grease gun and grease. I also purchased the 3 cans of fuel for a total of 4 years of warranty.

Already impressed and I haven't even started it yet!

Enjoy it in good health. It's a dandy once broke in. Seems like I read somewhere bout putting a thin layer if grease on the air filter where it seats on carb. prolly a good idea. Also there is an EXCELLANT thread in here about adjusting a screw on carb. If you have any stall hesitation problems show that thread to your dealer, he may be happy you did! Great feeling cutting wood with a new saw after a long anticipated purchase!

It says only a half pound but it just made the saw feel very heavy for a 50cc saw. I want this saw to be my one saw plan for firewood. My 5' 11" 128 pound frame spaghetti arms would get tired quickly if using my old 357 to limb. So my ultimate goal was to have a saw light enough to throw around but powerful enough to cut 16" oak. Weight is a big consideration on a saw with me. Otherwise I'd have bought a 562xp.

I've never had the chance to weight up XP vs XPG, my 545 got a full G kit before I started it up.

Long time ago I stripped down one G handle, there isnt much inside it that add up weight, maybe 0.01 kg lol.
And the same goes to carb heathers and rear heat element.

The only two parts who add weight is the flywheel & generator.
75 gram ie 2.75oz is the weight of the generator on my cheap kitchen weight ;)

You are right. Its not that much more. It's probably all in my head but it just didn't feel right for me.

At weights that low on the saws (or anything for that matter), I have a hard time feeling the weight difference in my hand. I have a hard time discerning the weight difference between a 550 and a 357 or going from a 357 to a 2171 and those are 2 lb jumps.

Steven most of us don't sling concrete blocks and move buildings for a living. Some of us are even sales people that spend most of our days on the phone or a computer. When you have soft salesmen hands and arms to match @Mastermind 's legs every ounce matters...

That being said, I would get heat over a few ounces weight anytime...

I didn't think you were, more than anything just trying to remind everyone that we each have our own experiences that affects our opinions.

I wish I could sling a 70cc like a 50cc but fact of the matter is it is unlikely I ever will.
