I've been wondering if I should use bar plates on my 272, I see they sell them and mine don't have them. They should prevent wear on the case and clutch cover right?
Thanks a lot manYes and they should have one on the clutch cover too.
I was given a similar saw and put a 55 rancher topend on it. Works great for me as well. Camping/truck saw.Was given this little 50 yesterday, needs a new 44mm piston, under the grime and faded plastics it doesn't look too bad, it will make a nice little camping saw.
I dont think its ever been cleaned b4View attachment 158327 View attachment 158328 View attachment 158329
It dont take long at all for chisel teeth to cut a groove in the clutch cover so it clears..Ask me hows I be knowing such knowledge..Yes and they should have one on the clutch cover too.
4-500 for a nice one locallyI am looking to buy a saw to mill with. My friend has a 395xp for sale he’s asking $500 for. When he brought the saw to show me it was leaking fuel out of the exhaust. So automatically I’m thinking carb rebuild or replace. Also the pull cord sometimes doesn’t grab.
It’s a 2011 build date and I was told the saw was rebuilt 4-5 years ago.
I’ve always run stihl saws so huskies seem foreign to me. Do you think these issues are a big deal? The saw did fire up and run fine, just seemed flooded.
Is this a good deal given the condition?
Thanks for any help.

I guess it would be nice to try to find some markings on the cylinder. A oem cylinder would be the most important to me. Not sure where the cylinder would be marked or if you could see markings w/out some dissembling. You could do a hillbilly compression test, hold pull start handle and see if the saw can hold itself up.
I don’t have access to a comp tester.
Guess I could pic one up.
I was told all oem parts but who really knows it was from the previous owners word.
I’ll try to get some pics and pull the muffler tomorrow or Friday.

Could you borrow one from say an autozone?

Oem tillyWhat saws use the same carb as a husky 268? Is it just the 61,268 and 272? Working on a 268 and the carb is flooding the saw. I pulled apart twice blew it out and changed needle, metering lever and spring. Still flooding out, anybody have some ideas or just buy new carb?
I bought 2 bad am carbs for my 266 and 268Thanks I don’t want to trust an aftermarket carb on a guy from works saw.
