Thought I would do some checking to see how the coils were.
The 9800 with the CD function built in had a bum battery, on to the 98.

Just took a bit of insulation off the wire and used the CD adapter just in case the capacitor was good in one.

Both units would fire hooked directly up to the coil itself. Neither did anything hooked up to the shorting wire. You can see the blue spark in the little circular window. Was in the range listed for similar Bosch coils and ones listed for Stihl saws.

Both had good primary resistance.

Secondary resistance was good in this one.

Maybe I can do something with it

It's pretty much hopeless. Might get it to work for a time, but that won't be very long.

Fix the one with a new capacitor and plan 2-C when the mail comes in on the other, might be maybe if we're lucky.

2 204 211 040 and 2 204 211 401.
