Husqvarna 61 porting/mods

Okie doke fellas, I've got a few husqvarna 61's laying around. I was gonna put a 266 top end on one or two of them. All three have clean, smooth top ends. Why not save the 266 jugs for a complete rebuild sometime and just mod the 61's?

I'm not real familiar with these saws aka this will be my first go around with any modifications to one.

Here's what I'm thinking. Please chime in with past experiences/tips etc.

Cut squish .025-.035.

Cut .035 popup

Deck jug to set squish around .020.

Raise transfers some/or lower exhaust.

Widen intake/exhaust

Open up exhaust/muffler

I'll degree it as well, so I know much will depend on timing.

Carb mods? Larger carb perhaps?

What year 61's are we talking about? The early ones had small carbs and the muffler that came apart. These being the white top and early gray top ones. A simple base cut to raise comp install a bigger carb and remove the baffle from the muffler will make them run much better. The later all orange ones had the bigger carb and higher top like the 268/272xp.

Man ur gonna mess up our trading saw, that's the saw we use when one of us wants something the other has we just swap ownership. Lol

I think twice both ways. This saw was caught in custody battle. I've got two more if you ever fancy a 61.
