Pat just knoe if you tell him $425 is good now he will expect the same feom you in 4 months when he hasn't used it. Tell him you'd be more comfortable at $350...

It's not a Stihl so it must lose close to half its value as soon as you run it...

I'm sure that is the case. I've never run a modern Husqvarna. My one and only is a 346xp

The 036 is raw, but easy to work on, light weight, bullet proof, and if you get it ported by someone like doc, it's runs like a 70cc.

The 555 is smaller than many 'pro' class 50cc saws, a bit like the 365 husky its a saw that is exceptional value and build that does not have the XP badge. I love the 6100 Dolmar & will own one some day I have run a mates one and its a great saw but I have a hard time concluding its a better design than the 555. While the 5 series have had some issues/updates my 555 & 550 have been dead reliable. I believe today after many years since the release of the 5 series, they remain the most evolved saws in design on the market. I Also am not a husky fanboy and run/own more Stihl's than Huskies.

Yes it is basically a detuned 562xp. I'd be looking hard at the dolmar/makita 6100. I went with a 6100 when I was looking at 60cc saws. Imho there is no better value for money or performance than a 6100 in 60cc class saws. If your set on the 555 make sure it's the updated 2016+ model with the cylinder cutout and updated fuel line setup ect.
The 6100 may be a great value, but so is a 555 at 425 that has low hrs.
I'd prefer to have the older one as it's substantially lighter. Even if it is a newer one I enjoy the balance of it better than most saws, I like the feel of most of the smaller huskys though(probably personal preference).
You know I've commented on this video before in a negative light so I will refrain except for saying it was a great video but I don't like the way the numbers were put together from the fastest times.
I would say 425 is fair. Hard to get a better saw for that amount.
Agree, disagree, and I really enjoy the 555.
There are many great deals on saws out there.

He just needs to be sure to pro-rate the use of it when he buys it :D.
the av is better on the 555
The right chain on a 036 runs pretty smooth too, but most huskys have better AV than stihls of the same era :couch:.

Which 50cc pro saw is it smaller than.
I am a husky fanboy as long as there are stihl fanboys around, it's kinda like I'm not a big football fan, but when Michigan plays Ohio state, I'm a Michigan fan :pancarta:.

555 or 6100, either one is faster and much smoother than my 036 Pro. Newer designs make a difference.

Well to answer chipper1's question, my 555 is smaller physically in size than the 2 MS261's I have, its way smaller than the Echo 550p I have, I bet its smaller than a Dolly 5105 and 6100 too. Actually other than the 550xp I am not to familiar with any other 50cc saws smaller than the 60cc 555 except for a vintage Partner R-16 I have.

Your surely right in regards to the 261's(even the newest release), those are kinda off my radar, wouldn't know about the others mentioned from personal experience.
I've got a few 50cc and 59cc saws that are smaller(all orange or jreds), the 360 and the 361 (hair wider) but the handle bars are wider yet, I'd guess the 260 and 026 would be smaller also, but I don't have any here to compare right now.
I always liked the 254xp, and to me the 555 is like a modern version of it, it's one of the saws I take almost everywhere.
