One of my non Saw buddies is looking at a low hour, used 555. A co-worker of his is selling it after cutting up a few trees that fell and he's offered it to him for $425 with a 20" bar. He's discribed it to me as nearly new. He said the bar still has all of the paint on it, so that's a good sign for a Husky bar. I think it will be a great 1 plan Saw for him. Is that a fair price?

The way my buddy operates it that he'll tire of it in a few months and sell it. Reviews sound pretty good on this model. From my research it lacks case stuffers and rev boost otherwise it would pretty much be an orange 562? Wondering whether or not it might be something to wait for and pick up from him? Knowing him it will be in the same condition just probably dusty from non use.

Yes it is basically a detuned 562xp. I'd be looking hard at the dolmar/makita 6100. I went with a 6100 when I was looking at 60cc saws. Imho there is no better value for money or performance than a 6100 in 60cc class saws. If your set on the 555 make sure it's the updated 2016+ model with the cylinder cutout and updated fuel line setup ect.

I have a 6100 and use my friend's 555 a lot at the cabin. They're both excellent so I'd just pick the best deal. Sounds like the 555 is the ticket this time.

Have owned a 555 for 5 or more yrs now and like it a lot. Have owned the 6100 too, but just liked the handling, weight, feel and performance of the 555 better. What I like about the Dolmar is that it has no electronics that require updates and dealer specific plug ins etc, etc. But those auto tune electronics is what makes my Husqvarna run so well that it outperformed the 6100 in every way. My 2 cents.

The only reason I bought the 2260 over the dolmar 6100 was that I got a really good deal on it used. 6100 is the boss of 60cc saws.

I would probably buy a 555 over a 562. It doesn't have the gray clutch cover. The 555 is a great saw especially if you find a good deal on one. As far as 555 vs 6100 the ergonomics are just different enough from one another to make them stand out. Making one always feel better. Auto tune is neat . I just enjoy tuning a two stroke myself but that is all off topic. If I had a chance to get a 555 at a good deal i probably wood. (Pun intended) and we all k ow how much I like the 6100.

Given the condition I said, is $425 a decent price? I have not seen many for sale.
I know where someone can get a 555 for 75$ more brand new
