Got a customers 55 on the bench.
He decided he'd try to do the repair himself and got in the middle and realized it was way over his head, so I end up with a box of parts and a grocery bag of screws to re-assemble.

I know there is some missing stuff (AV mounts, etc..) but I'm not certain on the rest of the stuff.
Looks like a brand new air filter, but the screw doesn't seem to engage into anything.
I'm not familiar enough with these to know what's wrong/missing.
Woulda been 10x better off just to let me take it apart from the start.

My question for you guys:
Does anyone have a build thread or can you take pics of a 55 you may have?

I'm replacing the top end, impulse grommet, impulse hose, etc....

Cause of failure: Poor assembly skills of previous owner. Neglected to torque jug bolts to adequate spec. Jug was wiggling....all 4 jug bolts loose.
Fried the Chinese top end.

Husqvarna 55's had two different air filters one with a screw retainer and one that simply snaps on. I do not have any pictures to show but can try to answer any questions. The 55 is not a complicated saw by any means and should be relatively easy considering your situation. This manual may help you also. Best of luck.

Seems to be a very simple design indeed.
Looking for pics of an AV mount.
The left rear is completely missing and the left front has a wooden stick shoved in it.
I assume there is supposed to be an AV plug or something of the sorts to hold them in place?.......hence the stick?

This one has an exploded view for the 55. If you read in the first manual about the AV system it will become obvious. No caps, recoil cover and clutch cover hold 'em in. Just line up holes of tank handle and crankcase and shove 'em in.

Also , take note of where the throttle rod goes , drove me nuts when I was putting mine together !!

Getting something you are not familiar with in pieces is a real challenge , good luck !

That's like putting together a 1000 piece puzzle with no picture to go by. Good luck sir if I get a chance later this week I will take pics of mine. Is it a closed port or open port? I got the closed port off Craig's list a few years back rebuilt and ported it very good saw for 50cc.

The open ports run well enough, it will, as @Spike60 says, "Definitely put wood on the truck." Personally I always thought an open port saw had more mid range and lugged better than a closed port for a firewood saw anyways.
