Just picked it up for 25.00 Piston bad cylinder beyond repair , Will I be happy with the aftermarket kit that is offered by dlsupply?

I know Spike60 put one on an old 257 he had kicking around and said it ran better than a 257 but not quite as good as an OEM 262. But it is a heck of a-lot better than a dead saw.

either a aftermarket meteor top end or find a good used top end from a 262xp.

Aren't the 261 and 262 the same cylinder, with a different piston? Too bad the jug is messed up. :(

I think i will try the aftermarket jug and piston like you said its better than a non working saw I bought a aftermarket jug and piston for a 55 and it was ok (at first I used the rings that came with the kit)and put Caber rings in it and now you really cant see any difference between the saws performance when it was original and now ,Im really pleased with it
