That is what I am saying. If a cylinder don't surface, it will just sit in it's box until I locate one. There are running saws to be had. I took a gamble on this one and apparently you can't win every time. If it was a saw I had an attachment to, I might get silly with fixing it. This is something I picked up last week. As cool as it is, I am not breaking the bank for it. I certainly will not put more into it than it could be replaced for.

Honestly, the best option for you might be to purchase a piston and cylinder from a 285CD and install it. It's only 85cc's but they run well. They go for less than 1 bill on eBay and are usually in great shape.

On that note, if someone was going to machine any cylinder to fit the 2100 it might be a really good option to bore out a 285 cylinder to the 2100 bore size and have it plated. If you have the lathe to bore it you will only be in it for the cost of the cylinder and plating. The only uncertainty is how the ports will land once it's bored. It would be even better if someone had a toasted 285 cylinder to try it and see what happens to port timing.

That sounds like a really cool idea actually!

Finally got to run the two different set ups back to back. One saw has dual dogs and a half wrap, thin ring and jungle muffler. The other has a standard side exit muffler and thick ring, full wrap and single dog. Neither saw has the governor blocked. The latter saw runs 36" 404 round chisel skip 58 gauge, the first runs 33" 404 full comp round chisel.

The first saw has less power by the seat of the pants test. We didn't throw a watch at them, but it seemed to cut faster even though you could pull the rpm down way easier. Could just be the factory grind on the chain too not sure. The dual dogs are very nice to fall with as is the half wrap. That saw felt a lot more solid but it also vibrates way more.

You can flat out lean on the other one and it doesn't stall out at all. Pretty neat running two of the same models back to back with all the different options. I'm wondering if the performance gains from the thin ring piston would be more apparent with the governors blocked? Also the jungle muffler is MUCH quieter. Both mufflers are stamped U2, which I'm told is a flow rating of some kind?

I got a chance to run a 2100 with jungle muff and compare it to a 298 with side exit muff and the 298 seemed to own the 2100. The 298 had semi skip square filed chisel and the 2100 was running full comp round filed chisel. Both has a 36" bar though. It's not much of a surprise that the semi skip square chain out cut the other. We should have swapped chains and tried it. Fun saws.

I really don't use my 2100 that much because it's seldom I need that large of saw . It's kind of stupid the bring out a 100 cc saw for 18-20 inch stuff .I've got plenty in the 70-- 80 cc range for that stuff .

Got em both! The 2100 is another run of the mill 2100(xp by '84?). Single dog, full wrap, standard muffler. In really nice shape, ready to run. 22" 3/8 b/c included. Looks like a fairly average condition saw. Loads of compression, starts and runs good. Oils like crazy.

The 1100 I stumbled on by accident by calling the seller about the 2100. He told me he had a 2100 parts saw but that it looked a bit different and had a black rear handle but was definitely a 100cc husky. He made me a fair deal on the pair given both p/c were claimed good. So I drove 2.5hrs one way to go get them.

He had the 1100 running! It had old old fuel in it, but it still fired. It has a proper 1100 full wrap on it, the one without the tie plate underneath. It also has the rubber mounts in the bar. The p/c look nice, cylinder is spotless and the piston has very slight scuffs on the exhaust side. It's a thick ring piston. Overall it's in very nice condition and doesn't look too abused, definitely a good rescue project and a variant I don't have yet. So I guess that's it, I'm going to collect 100cc huskies. Now I need a 2101 and 298 to round it out.

I am in need of some parts to fix it up now. Would a regular 2100 air filter and cylinder cover be proper? I know they had a different filter with a flocked cover from pics I've seen, but it needs a filter and a 2100 one bolts on. It needs the rear bar stud fixed and the kill switch re wired by someone who is less farmer like than the last guy.

Pics to come soon.
