I always thought crankcases from XPG vs XP would be the same crankcase until I got a few 42's.
As more we study XP saws, as more we realize it's a lucky draw if Husky prepared them 100% for generator, wonder what we would get if we bought a new xpg crankcase....

Do they actually list a different part number for them?
I never really look at the IPL for a different case number.

no, I've never seen them list different part number, pretty lame. Has to be a nightmare for them, dealers and their customers.
I'll see if I can go through 346, 357, 362 xpg cases and post up dimensions for holes & threads incase anyone plan to rebuild one XP to XPG

I am working on converting a 550xp to xpg and while the generator holes are on the xp chasis they were not tapped. Just smooth holes. So i guess husky had some that went an extra step of tapping for g models and xp models skipped on down the line
I got one 545 today, pulled the flywheel and it's prepared the same way as your 550 XP was Dave.
Luckily they have drilled the holes, rebuilding 545/550 is kinda easy, all we need to do is not to thread to deep.
I sized up the hole to be around 16mm deep, M4 threads. To play safe I threaded down to 14mm, hopefully it should be enough.
