I have a husky 575xp, been rebuilt but not ported or anything. What's the longest bar you think I can get away with with skip tooth chain. The saw king out in Oregon says 42" with skip. That seems like a tall order but idk if the chain is kept super sharp maybe.

Anybody have a 575xp with a long bar, how does it fair. I found a 42" bar that comes with a skip chain for 140$ shipping included. I thought that was a decent price. Am I asking way to much for a 75cc saw?

I had a 575 for several years, never ran more than 24” bar on it, handled that easily. In hardwood i think 28” would be the max, any bigger and id be reachin for a different saw. Softwood you could get away with more, 42” seems like a stretch to me.

I watch his videos that's where I got the 42". I'm sure he would know, and I'm not going into logging with it, but 42" is a helluva lot of bar.

It's just for cutting large firewood, we do get old oaks here in Illinois that require a bar that long. Of course cottonwoods too grow huge. There's a dead oak on a buddy's ground were talking about getting down and 42" isnt even gonna come close to getting through in one pass

32" was kind of where I was thinking, but there again if a guy can get the longer bar for less money. I could always get a 3120xp later to put it on lol

Good point, idk how the 575 oils, I've only got a 16 on it now that's no comparison. If it were my poulan 5200, oil would not be an issue.

I sometime try to track down a 32" setup then. I'll probably still use skip chain?

I actually have a 36" bar skip chain on my Stihl 440 all it's had is a muffler modification, I used it today in fact on an oak log about 32" across it pulled it great, that's why I thought the 575 may be more saw than the 440 is, so it might pull more.

Of course I had the oiler turned all the way up on the 440, it did keep up ok

32" or 36" skip for bucking cuts.

Buy one, try it if ya don't like it get the bigger powerhea simple solution.

Some people like 28" bars on 50cc saws others likme 20" on 90+cc powerheads.

Just depends on your cutting style.

I am building a ms440 right now. If you think a 440 pulled a 36 fine with adequate oil...go for a 42 on the 575. I agree with others that have openly stated the 440 barely oils a 84dl bar in hardwood. Heck a ms660 barely oils a 32 according to several local tree companies and saw mill.

I agree 100% that Stihls don't oil enough. That's pretty sad that a 1000$ chainsaw won't feed a bar that the saw has capabilities of running.

With my 440 I just know after a couple full house cuts the chain and bar weren't overly hot, the chain still had the right tension. I'm used to older poulans, and homelites and oil was never an issue with them for sure
