Did a little filing today since I had some new files and a chain vise to try. I learned a lot and have a couple questions. First the questions because I know otherwise you guys will just get caught up in the pictures. What is an Oberg file? I ordered a 10 pack of Bahco 7" double bevel chisel bit files and noticed that in addition to the Bahco name and symbol they have Oberg markings. I had been under the impression Oberg was a brand. Is it actually a style or cut of file? I also got a couple handles to try but can't give a comparison since i started with the cheap blue one that looked the worst and never set it down since it seemed fine. I also noticed that at least with these files the corner actually has a tiny radius to it and if you are looking at the inside corner of the tooth you can change where it appears to be by changing the angle of the tooth. Handy for making your filing look good in pics.

Thanks Mike, I think i need to take one more trip around and touch up a few angles but I'm pretty happy with it. I just hope I didn't take the rakers down to far. I used one of those folding husqvarna gauges and I'm far from in love with it. It seemed to flex a lot.

Looking good for sure!
I use handles on em too. I know Mike doesn’t but I couldn’t get comfortable without. I made a couple on the lathe to fit my preference.

Do yours have the round end? They look a little different from mine. Once they arrive I will revert back to this forum and start messaging you guys. As of right now, none are spoken for, so we aren’t gonna run out! Looking like $10 a file right now.
These have the flat tapered end.
Vallorbe on the left, Bacho in the middle, Save Edge on the right.

I like the vallorbe being longer since you can almost use 2 sections and shorter file strokes and get more life out of them. The straight across make it I’m easier on the left hand cutters for me as well.
