I was waiting for madsens to open tomorrow, but I've heard of high shipping costs because of the stand. Bailey's had it for the same price, but only $10 shipping with the stand.
It's a good deal for that grinder. Been eyeing it for awhile myself.

I’ve always hated the swing arm style grinders compared to the upper end grinders the repeatability just isn’t there and there’s no hold down mechanism for the tooth.

I like to pull down on the chain to keep it tight against the pawl, works pretty well to keep the cutter stable.

The problem I've had is when I'm really hogging material the cutter heel can lift and change the grind.

To avoid that I just grind in two passes.
A better hold down for the cutter would be nice though.

The pro sharp has a hold down it makes a huge difference so does the way you can control how the can scrolls into the wheel.

Mike told me to squeeze both sides and rotate back into the pawl ............. makes a huge difference and works perfectly. Keeps everything pulled down and back, making for uncompromised consistency

Yeah, Madsens shipping was a lot more than that, but I did get it in 5 days.

Madsen’s is a great shop especially if you can walk in there to get the parts another place to try is Woods logging in longview, WA they also carry the grinders.

If you flip those chain paws then it will hold the heal down. But then you run into the front of the cutter lifting.

Just curious as to why square file chains seem to make bigger chips than a round filed chain.
Is it just me, or is that the norm?
