I wish these lasted longer. I dont know what I did to my poor save edge file but I noticed on my 2nd sharpening of square that I had 2 chipped teeth on the file. Now I've been filing things for like a decade and I've never chipped a file before so idk what happened. It's sad, some cutters on this chain aren't even fully converted to square yet.

I thought it was just me that had bad wear with Save Edge files.
Mine wear out at about 2 chains. [emoji20]

For some unknown reason, they last a metric ton longer than the regular chisel bit square files ...........
So much so, that I actually hate them
Lol. Maybe I'll have better luck with these triangle Stihl files. [emoji106]

Weird. I find them a little easier for me. The files are not as fine as the chisel bit Save Edge files. Deeper grooves in the triangle files.

For those here, if any, that use a File-n-Joint, what angles are you setting the rig?

Thanks, Ron

I still really wish I could find an industrial file that works for square filing. The Nicholson round files I bought from mcmaster are way better than the husqvarna ones.

30 down and 30 back is about all I can get
25 tilt, 35 swivel, and 8 roll with a hex file

Thanks, guys. The down/tilt has been driving me crazy. 40 eats up the tie strap. 35 just touches but you have to flatten the roll. I was trying to match to a factory .404 Stihl but it seem to want more down/tilt than I could get - it also seemed to have about a 10 roll and 30 back/swivel. I can figure the roll out once I get the other figured out. Ron

My numbers are with a double bevel, not the 6 sided triangle, if that makes a difference

I am looking for a square grinder too. But they seem hard to find lately.
Never heard of Razur Sharp
