How much wood are you burning..?

a lot depends on the Pex line length and insulating quality of the install as well as the insulation of the home/shop...also the location of the home ( VA compared to VT) if you are cold...so is your house. Meaning winds and temps make the outside of the house cold which transfers to the inside and you ... my question is why not keep the stove/insert and use it for some 'romance heat' and burn every thing else in the outdoor wood sucker/boiler. ? Also seasoned wood will cut a cord or two from your 10-15 questimate for sure. but if you got a wood sucker...well ya might as well feed it ANY wood ya got...for now.

I’d still love to have one indoors, just never went through with it.

Here’s at a full 24 hrs, I loaded it full like I would when it’s cold out. Been low twenty’s at night and low thirty’s most of the day.

Depends on how big your wheelbarrow is. Firebox is 4’ diameter and 4’ deep. With about 18” of coals and ash in the bottom.

So no, gunna need more than a wheel barrow

It will hold hot coals for weeks, as long as you leave plenty of ash in the bottom

That's a monster...! I've never seen one with a firebox that big..! You stuffing 1/2 cord in it at a time...!!

It’s a big furnace but it’s effiecient, probly no more than most

I got a central broiler. It not as cold here but I live in a house from the 1860s with zero insulation. Very rarely unless It gets 20 or lower it don’t make it 24 hours. Sometimes I can go a few days if it’s warm. Burn about 8 or 9 cords. But only runs 4-5 months of the year.

a long time ago i figured 17 rick a year. a rick it tulsa is 4 foot height 8 foot long from 12 to 18 inches wide. should be 24 but *s-word happens. proly average about 16 inches wide. but i burn wood for cooking and heating.if you cook with wood you proly use more.

Cool....! I like old houses. Most of em have lots of character. I've worked on a number of 19th century homes, & a couple of 18th century homes. We certainly don't build em like that anymore.

What brand model do you have @Deets066 ? I have a friend that has one of the central broilers that burn upside down. It blows air in thru the top and the smoke goes out the bottom. It is ridiculously efficient but way to complicated for me. He gets less than a 5 gal bucket of ash out every 2 weeks.
