I got offered a Ford 2120 that I’ve run and repaired off and on since 2008. He’s getting a yanmar and wants me to figure out a fair price. It’s beat to death but it does what it needs to do. New starter and battery, clutch was done at some point. Every problem was addressed asap so it didn’t get neglected. The local tractor dealer say either they don’t want it or they don’t want to give such a low offer.

I was told $3k from one guy, don’t touch it from a few and 4k - 5k from another.

I was leaning towards $3k. I wasn’t worked hard. It got loaded with hay bales and water totes for most of its life. He ran a brush hog on it a few hours a year. The guy drank a little too much and ran it into gates and fences regularly. Scrap is about $200. He’s at auctions often enough that he would probably send it to one if he doesn’t get any decent offers.

knowing what it spent time doing certainly helps, and if it runs good and you feel good about it then send it!

With 7850 hours on it, that is the equivalent of driving a vehicle 432K miles @ 55 miles an hour. I would offer the lower price of 2500 and go from there. Only you can put a value to it for what you want it to do and how many more hours will it hold up.

Mine runs real well. 4WD. It's my log skidder, sawmill loader, firewood mover etc. very strong hydraulics, a lot of punch for its size.
The shuttle shift is nice, I like it better than plain gears or hydrostatic but I live in fear that the little clutch plates in there will go one day. I hear replacements are hard to find and terribly expensive. Bear that in mind.

I’ll see what happens after the new tractor is delivered.

The issue is almost everything on these is hard to find now.

It’s almost never going to get used at my place. I want something I can put clamp on forks to move ibc totes of wood and unload stuff from my truck. It might use it to move stone or drag a junk car around. Everything is $10k and you don’t know the history. I can probably get a majority of my money back out of it in parts if it does have a major failure. I thought about putting a jib crane next to garage but that itself is more than a tractor.

If parts availability is already an issue on that thing then I would do 2000 max. Its one broken widget away from being a barnyard ornament. Remember the same price will buy you a rough looking but good running Ford N or Ferguson 30 which is alot easier to work on and find parts for.

Those have no where near the hydraulics.

I agree with you, but lack of parts is a killer. One way or another you got to pay to play.
