I measured it 7 thousand times, any where from 17 to 22 thousandths.

Did all around piston edge and at wrist pin Ares. As long as it was more than 15 thousandths I'm happy.

Let it set over night for the demons to escape, fueled, oiled and fired up, runs great , still need to run a couple tanks thru to get it perfect.

I'm happy!!!

The most accurate squish measurement is found directly above the wrist pin.

Been reading all about sealers/ gasket makers now that I did this delete.

How hot does the cylinder get??? Locktite 518 is good to 300'f, locktite 510 is good to 390'f, 510 is twice the cost but don't use much at all.

I used ultimate grey.

Any opinions???

300 dev rating should be fine. I dont believe the cylinder base gets that hot. Where things get hottest is in the combustion chamber and exhaust area of the cylinder. Most engines have a normal operating temp of just north of 200 deg. Of course there are a few "hotter spots" like I mentioned above.

I've been using Motoseal for cylinder bases, just a real thin coat, what I classified as thin...

The other day I pulled a cylinder and was surprised at how much squished out inside the cylinder.

I just picked up a tube of Permatex's anarobic gasket maker to start using so anything that does get squished out will wash out.

Guess I might invest in a tube of locktite 510, probably be doing a few more, and a tube should last a long time.

probably 160-180°F

I checked a few ported saws and after a short cut cylinder temps are around 350 degrees.

It won't be that hot @ the crank case juction
