They call us "ranchers" out here in the wild west. Lived on a sheep ranch with my ex up until 6 years ago in Southern Oregon. Now I live on some acreage in northern Oregon on what they call a 'tree farm' here. Not as active here, I do not have to chase the trees around. My neighbors here have horse and cattle ranches. I help them out now and then, mostly haying the field next to my property.

Funny thing about my chainsaw use. I grew up on an orchard and only once ran a saw on the farm. Back then it was the old style with 15-20' trees but the idea is to grow trees. Not cut them down.

Not a pic of our place but our trees had a lot more bulk to them. They were planted 27 trees to the acre. Today its all dwarf trees planted at maybe 1200 per acre.

Cool orange cat. My cat is that color, but he is a lot fatter now. He eats 2 mice a day on average and weighs 26 pounds!

Duroc crosses make good ham and bacon. We used to raise between 4-8 a year. The pens can smell pretty bad though, and if you are not careful they can kill you.

Firth generation farmer. Granddad was the first in this county to grow Soybeans and Hybrid corn. He had a seed business for 35 years. He farmed 500 acres in the 40's thru the 70's. He had cows and sheep in my younger days. Now I own 62 of the original 102 home place.
I have 36 acres tillable and 22 acres in government programs. 12 acres of woods and 10 acres of wildlife grasses.
I have a construction clean-up business and I recycle drywall into a soil amendment.
