Looks like i joined a/s in 2010 so a little before that had saw interest ,had saws for last 25 or so years but never thought of them as anything to work on ,just cut firewood with them back then, could not even sharpen a chain then .an 024 was my first new saw then i got an 034 super ,then my stepdad gave me a 10mm 044 ,it sat on the shelf over 10 years smashed from skidder tire ,when i joined a/s is when i started repairing it getting info .

I guess iv always maintained my own equipment right back to when i was a boy. Saws ,mowers, tractors were always part of life and iv always preferred 4 cylinders rather than 4 legs so to speak .... Now i try my best to make a living fixing and maintaining others equipment as well as my own .

I've been spinning wrenches and twisting screw drivers for as long as I can remember. Alway worked on my own stuff. Didn't matter if it was piece of farm equipment, car, lawn mower whatever. I've used saws for along time but only in the last maybe 3 years have I actually started doing major repair type stuff to saws. I find it fun and addictive. I'd really like to get into the porting and performance end of things but I know I have a lot more to learn first.

When I was in grade 9 my high school still offered a small engine class. It was the last year it was ever offered. Used to offer a drafting class too. They dropped the drafting just before I graduated. This was about 20-24 years ago. How thing change. Now it's all computer classes.

Funny you mention that Duane. Andrew recently took in his Husky 55 for ag mechanics class. Wanted to show the teacher and the rest of the class he knew his way around a saw.

I'm in the 4-6 group. Have heated with wood since my childhood but never really tore into saws (dad ran Husky and they were pretty reliable). Been heating my home w/ wood for about 7 years and got bit by AS looking for help to rehab dads old 50 after loaning it to a friend.
