I've got a home light 360 chainsaw and for some reason the only way I can get any gas to come out of the gas line from the gas tank to the carburetor is to hold the chain saw up in the air with the bar chain up in here anyways should there be gas coming through that line from the gas tank at all times if so then what could be the problem why I have no gas coming out of it

Welcome to the forum!! If you have a pressure tester, you can pressure the line and then remove it, if everything is unclogged, fuel should flow out of the line due to the pressure in the tank. Its possible that the impulse is not working to pump the fuel, have you taken apart the carb to see the condition of the diaphragm gaskets, if they are crispy or stiff then it won't pump well and the diaphragm's need to be changed out. The carb may have dirt, sawdust and other debris in it (coming in with the fuel or the vent hole on the carb), this can cause carb issues too.

Could it possibly the the duckbill or the filter on the gas cap? There is a little tiny rubber valve and a sintered metal filter that allows air into the tank as fuel comes out.

If you crack the gas cap a little, does fuel come out of the line?
