This started off as a pretty dumb question but it's a high quality heap of frozen fastener methods at this point.

Thanks guys!

And yes, the new fastener will get anti-sieze, I have a big jar of copper that I got for my wood stove years ago. Found a few uses for it so far!

I found a m5-0.8x60 at Home Depot, will use that with a couple washers until my box of m5-55s get here from Amazon. (or, knowing me, I'll decide I like the washers and throw the 55s in a bin unopened.)

You can buy stainless steel anti-sieze for exhaust & high heat

My newest favorite trick, Buy some pickling spice ( ALUM ) off Ebay in bulk ( I bought 5 lbs) mix heavy. 1 cup on the alum with regular water 1/2 cup just enough to absorb the alum. Mix & place in a small crockpot , Behind your wife's back is best. Don't let it come in contact with anything steel/iron that you want to keep. Keep warm for a day or two . it will eat the steel leave aluminum alone . Worked great on a 056 with a busted case bolt . Do a search on YouTube

So for clarification, that stuff eats the bolt out of the case?!?! That seams like an awesome option. Although ALOT could go bad. But sounds awesome. Does it bother any of the paint? and what about like a magnesium case?

Old Stihl 056 is Magnesium worked like a dream , 1st I did not have enough Alum in it , added more. Next morning, Black floaters on surface of liquid all steel was gone. Use heat of the crockpot. Alum is used in making dill pickles snap when you eat them and other benefits. Didn't hurt paint, But that wasn't a concern Powder coating was in it's future.
