I have noticed different brands of bar lube make the chains spin faster ,have you ever tested bar oil ?

a little bit. Using some bar oil that scott sells. I tested it against stihl bar oil and it was faster by avg. .75sec on 4 30 second cuts. Not a big deal. But free time in a race.

I tried atf one time ,very low resistance with that ,but it made a mess .not sticky enough i guess .
Does the .404 having a bigger sprocket in 7 tooth help or hurt speed that you have noticed ?

I believe the rakers off the roll .404 are a little lower than 3/8 comes , the .404 ,and the square may have lower rakers than the round .404 off the roll if you had not ran across that yet .

Very impressive - a lot of work to process and share. Thank you.

Some of the variances are small; I might write those off as not significant. But some of those temperature variations are huge.
- Do you think that some of the mid-bar temps are due to different materials used for lightweight bars, or their ability to dissipate the heat?
- Nose tip temperature variations of 100°F are impossible to ignore: do you think that this might be due to the number of bearings, the quality of the bearings, the internal diameter of the sprocket, or ?

Wow that alot of info on bars..... I never would have known a bar made a difference other then tip size. Good info
