Look close where the piston crown meets the exhaust port roof.

Perhaps it's a failed attempt to emulate a piston prechamber like on some diesels .I don't think it will work .

More than likely a 14 mm plug from a car ,just a tad too long .

I got one of those saws to work on once. Some fool used a flat screwdriver to 'stop' the piston from moving. Idiot not only buggered up the piston but the top of the exhaust port.

Crikey, just use a bit of rope through the spark plug hole...

Well face it .This stuff is just common sense it's not rocket science and it's not black magic although some claim it to be . You can't fix the danged things by getting a bigger hammer .--mumble grumble---

Pulled the muffler and, yup, both rings pinched and broken.

Owner opted for a new top end and general overhaul.

Crome plating starting to peel where the cylinder wall was upset by the crude piston stop. Wouldn’t last Long with just a new piston & rings. [emoji90]
