I go back & forth with minor turning each time (instead of a full 90 degree and one way).

But I just did enough to clean the coating so I could put it down w/o a gasket.

(On my 066 ... did not get my 660 kit yet).

That is what you want to see! NICE!

How long did it take to get it down, and what grit paper did you use?

I'll probably leave the #s where they're at. I like a torquey saw.

Yea, I would, but if you get new #s after the lowering, please share.
Will do. I haven't much use for a 660, so this saw probably won't see many hours or extended run times. If it builds excessive heat, I may consider raising the exhaust port. If it's too slow, I'll run a larger sprocket.
Any of this is subject to change at any time.

Checked timing after .012" off the base.
No signifigant change. 1/2 degree maybe.

So a couple a dudes who know chit ( @mdavlee & @Redfin ) said they would run at .016" squish, which is always an option.
How much compression is too much?
Keep in mind this saw has no real world use or life span expectations. It can be considered a race / play saw that is expendable.
saw is still apart, but not for long.

I doubt you will get over 200 without a pretty good squish band cut
