I understand what you are saying and have a lot to say on the subject. I wish others did also but it appears no one else cares about youth.

Damn internet tracks what I look at and I am getting a bunch of news feeds for some wild stories of ignorant, arrogant, and totally disrespectful coaches running scores up. It is despicable! In one case it was 100-0.

Great job a holes!!!!!!

My boys peewee team won again this weekend. They have only lost once going into next week’s championship game. It’s been fun watching them improve.

I am glad they are doing good, wins feel good and of course losses sting. I just hope folks try to remember at that age the primary focus should be on building interest, education, and having fun along the way.

It is a different sport but the same principles apply to little league baseball. When I was a kid T-Ball began at the end of your 1st grade year and every kid hit from the T. Now it begins at age 4 when kiddos are in Pre-Kindergarten. The rules are a bit subjective but in many cases the coach throws three to five pitches to the kid. If they miss then they hit from the T. Some coaches will not pitch and just have their kids hit from the T. In most cases you play for outs and runs but score is not officially kept. You bat through the order each inning no matter if every kid is out. The goal is to get through 3 innings and every kid has 3 at-bats.

I will never forget when our youngest son was playing. We had 4 community grade schools that made up the school district. Each grade school had at least one T-Ball team and most had two. Our grade school had two teams. Most of the games were against teams in our district but a few were not. It was our son's team's final game of the season. It was a home game and they were playing a team from a neighboring district. Both our teams were there because after the game we were having a cookout. I was "coaching" 1st base which of course was right in front of the visitor dugout. One of their coaches asked me what our record was. I turned around and told him I had no idea as we do not keep score. He got snotty and said that was stupid. He then asked how we would seed our tournament. I turned back around and said "Sir this is our final game of the season and when it is over both our teams are going to walk across the gravel road and have a cookout. We have plenty of food and refreshments and we would love to have you and your team join us. At this age kids enjoy roasting a wiener as much as being a winner"

That’s exactly how they teach our boys here too. 4-5yr olds play T-Ball and then at age 6 they can join 8U Baseball. 8U is great - everyone cheers everyone on, and the kids learn to play. My oldest was in 10U this past summer, and it’s already getting more competitive and the rules about batting the roster are much different than 8U.

Tomorrow night is week #7. In Illinois we play a 9 week season before playoffs are seeded. I believe Iowa is a 8 week season. I am not sure about other states.

10 weeks with a bye. We have a bye this week and it’s fall break. Trying to get some kids healed up for next week. Reigning state champs so not looking great. The next week should be a good game. We have three games left. Our son had an ortho appointment to get cleared for a shoulder injury today.

We have 5 rounds also. They take the top 32 teams in each of the 8 classes. They then split those into two pools of 16 then split them into a north and south group. The split to north and south is a total joke. Geographically we are very much in the north. In 1998 we were of course put in the north division. A team in our conference that we share a school district boundary with was put in the south division. Well guess what.....they marched through the south division and we marched through the north. Our state 1A through 4A championship games are played 3 hours south of here on the day after Thanksgiving. Both teams had to load up and drive 3 hours south to play a game that could have been played here. Of course we had already played them in the regular season as they were in our conference.
